The
2012 Gathering is just a few days away and we are looking forward to seeing all
of you at this year's historic event. Last year's Gathering had record
breaking attendance over previous years, and this year we anticipate setting
new records. Thanks for helping keep this Cowboy tradition going.
The Chuck wagon was the
backdrop of the original cowboy poetry gatherings on the early day cattle
drives. While the cowboys ate their evening meal they would gather around the
campfire to sing, recite poetry and tell stories.

What: “The Denver
Brass: Joy to the World!”
When: Sunday, Dec 18 – 4:00pm, Thursday, Dec. 22 –
7:30pm, Friday, Dec 23 – 7:30pm
Where: Newman Center for the Performing Arts, 2344 E Iliff Ave,

The Denver Brass, well-known
for its long tradition of elegant, entertaining Christmas concerts, will
perform “The Denver Brass: Joy to the World!” on December 18, 22 & 23. The
Denver Brass and guest vocalists from gospel ensemble Dave LeMieux & House
of Soul will remind you why the Christmas season
really is the most magical time of the year.
You won’t believe your eyes or your ears!
For many years, The Denver
Brass has produced “shows” – productions which are “more than a concert,”
incorporating diverse music, theatrical lighting, creative staging, unusual
collaborations, an engaging and informative concert host, and special elements
designed to break down the barrier between those on the stage and not, making
the audience part of the show. “The
Denver Brass: Joy to the World!” is at the acoustically magnificent Newman
Center for the Performing Arts, where the sound of brass is perfectly complemented
by the size, shape, and elegance of Gates Concert Hall.
Part of what makes The Denver
Brass special is its reputation for innovative collaborations that produce
shows of lasting impact, and this Christmas show is no exception. The Denver Brass is excited to begin a new
collaboration with gospel musicians from local group Dave LeMieux & House
of Soul. Together the two groups will
deliver the inspirational Christmas message in an
all new way with movements from A Soulful
Messiah and a jazzed-up take on “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear.” The two groups will also bring in the funk
with a high-energy, Afro-Cuban arrangement of “Go Tell It On the Mountain”
(Dilo en la Montaña), and reflect on the sacred nature of that very Silent
Night with lush, Romantic harmonies.
Take a sleigh ride, hear what the Brass Winds said to the
Drummer Boy, dance with Frosty the Snowman and,
as the children know, when the “Grinch” shows up, expect the unexpected! (Who knew the Grinch was a tuba player?) The concert will close in brilliant Denver
Brass tradition as vocalists and audience singing John Rutter’s glorious
arrangement of O Come All Ye Faithful, which has been the traditional finale
for Denver Brass Christmas concerts for over two decades! O Come, O Come and join the celebration. Let the joyful sounds of the Christmas season surround you as you relax, reminisce
and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!

HORSECAPADES is the unique
presentation of the Westernaires. It combines talent with skill that is
centered around the horse and Western tradition. It's a circus-like review
combining action, speed and a variety of talents set to music. It's a
professional performance put on by the largest precision drill riding group in
the world.
The show will present 250 riders and
horses in action quite unlike any other arena performance. These are the best
of our young Westernaires, many of whom have been with the group for eight,
nine and occasionally ten years. These riders are not paid professionals, nor
"super kids," but children who have dedicated themselves to the
development of an art form quite unusual, have given a substantial part of
their young years to the perfection of a skill and craft, and to learning the
difficult task of working as a team.
HORSECAPADES includes an array of acts,
involving precise control and split-second timing. Every feature is approached
with careful planning as to costumes and lighting, music and timing for the
utmost in audience appeal. In addition to precision team drills, trick riding
and a number of other specialty acts are part of HORSECAPADES. Come down to the
National Western Events Center for this show; you don't want to miss it!

10:00am, 2:00pm, 7:00pm &
Sunday, October 30, 2011 - 2:00pm

Jeep® Jamborees are off-road adventure weekends that bring together the outdoors, down-to-earth people, and their Jeep 4x4s. These off-road treks have a long tradition dating back to 1953 when 4x4 pioneer Mark A. Smith organized the firstever Jeep Jamboree and voyaged across the Sierra Nevada Mountains by way of the old Rubicon Trail. In 1954, Willys Motors — then manufacturer of Jeep vehicles — became involved with the adventure, and Jeep Jamborees have been an off-road tradition ever since.
The Ouray Jeep Jamboree offers up to six trails for your selection, depending on the total number of participants: the Imogene Pass/Last Dollar Road trail, the Yankee Boy Basin/Governor’s Basin trail, the California Pass trail via Corkscrew Gulch and Mineral Point, the Placer Gulch/Picayne Gulch trail, the Ophir Pass/Imogene Pass trail, and the Poughkeepsie Gulch trail. Both the California Pass trail and Placer Gulch/Picayne Gulch trails stop for lunch at Animas Forks.
